Hi Kevin,

I noticed that you didn't mention Seagate.  I would look very seriously
at these drives as part of your analysis.  We have moved almost
exclusively to Seagate (we are Maxtor, WD and Seagate authorized reps so
have no particular bias based on allegiance).  The drivers are amazingly
quiet, very fast and almost bullet proof.

Dear Listers,

I've had good experiences with Western Digital, from installations to
troubleshooting to warranty replacements.  Performance has been good
also.  I notice significant price differences between Maxtor and Western
Digital for similar drives, ie. capacity, rpm, seek times etc.

My only real experience has been with Western Digital.  I wonder what
some of your experiences have been with these two brands.  Anyone prefer
one over the other?  why?
