System hang

Has anyone come across this problem. My friend's PII 400 system would hang
after about 10 - 15 mins of typing. The system do not hang when there are
few keyboard strokes like surfing the net, it would run fine for 2-3 hours.
This is a newly installed system, about 2 weeks old.
The system configuration is:
Intel PII 400
ASUS P3B motherboard
64 MB of RAM
6.4GB harddisk
ATI Rage 2C video card.
I appreciate any help or ideas on this.
