You might want to leave the sound card out for awhile and see if
that makes life nicer. Plug and Pray does not always work
consistantly with ISA cards. My system used to loose the sound
card unless i left it power off for at least 8 hours. That fixed
itself when i swapped slots on a coulpe of cards :?? Magic!

If that doesn't do it, try swapping the power supply. I don't know
of any way to actually check a supply unless you have some very
special (big bucks) equipment. A DVM, or even a scope, is not
sufficient!
