Yes, these are an artifact of the Sony Trinitron tube. They are support wires
for the mask. They are usually only visible on light backgrounds. They appear on
all their monitors, even the 19" ones we use at work. You get used to them, or
they just aren't visible most of the time (darker colors on screen).
