Hi David,

Soooo, based on the information you gave us and what
I know about IBM, I would say the HD is probably ESDI.
As you were able to insert the soundcard it's obvious
it's not a Microchannel bus (or did IBM make any models
with mixed ISA/MCA bus?). Every IBM I've used up to the
486 models require a configuration disk which you use to
inform the machine what card you've inserted, which slot,
what I/O address it needs and which INT it uses (sort of
a BIOS on disk). Without the configuration disk I doubt
you'll be able to use the soundcard. Your computer just
doesn't know anything about it. At least with the
IBM PS/2 80 these disks were machine specific and you
couldn't use it with a different IBM PS/2 80 after it had
been configured (Maybe I'm wrong on this, and I was just to
stupid to get it to work.)
If you're lucky you still have this lying around, and you
were wondering what it was for.
If not, maybe you can order one from IBM.
Remember this is just an educated (or whatever) guess
as I don't have all the details about your system.

Maybe it'll help anyway,
