This sounds much like a virus I have helped friends deal with in the past, very annoying and hard to get rid of. Unfortunately not all antivirus products are very helpful when it comes to very pesky virus' such as these. If you could list what virus it says it detects that would be more helpful but I strongly believe this is the vundo.gen virus. If it is the first step I would do is google and download the vundo fix program. After its downloaded and saved I would restarted the computer in safe mode (press f8 during boot up) and run both antivirus and the vundo fix.

Subject: [PCBUILD] Antivirus XP 2008

I have somehow on my laptop computer Antivirus XP 2008.  I am unsure how this came about but it has definitely infected my computer.  I have an updated Norton Antivirus so I would have thought this would have protected me. How do I go about getting rid of this virus?  So far Norton has popped up and fixed everything or so it said but this Antivirus XP 2008 is still on the computer.  I am able to use the internet and Microsoft Outlook Express.  I am using Windows XP Media Center.  My desktop is blurry and this virus program keeps popping up in the startup tray.

Thank you for your assistance.

Alice
