I am trying to install the above mentioned in a Compaq 5834 500 mb computer
with a WD 170AA HD, Win98se with plenty of ram.
I have tried every combination of jumper settings and drive positions on the tape cable, also new cable. I am concentrating on putting both on the secondary.

I either get a "safe mode" boot or this error message. - OE occured at 00000009 in VXD --- this error called from 0028:c187555c7 in VXD ---

The Compaq boot finds all drives easily but it is difficult to get them to show in control panel "system" and windows explorer.

I installed both drives in an old NEC machine with win98 -- no problems at all.

Can someone please give me a direction?? Thanks in advance
