> (1) what is LS 120 in the boot menu options?.

That was a slightly different type of floppy $10-$15(US) that 3M
used to try to sell that had a size of 120Megs.
(Special hardware was required.)
They got part of the name from the formatted size.
They were also called SuperDrives (or something like that).
They never got too popular. (Iomega ZIP drives sold much better
and had drivers embedded in the OS first -- which never hurts...
I can only remember two people that used them. (I am one of them...)

>(2) after i shut down the system for the day and start up next day or whe=
never the post msg shows a checksum error and defaults loaded. this happe=
ns every day. the date goes back to jan 1st 2000 and the LS 120 boot opti=
on appears either second or third in rank, and the initial display revert=
s back to pci slot. if i press f1 to continue the video comes on fine but=
the dates get messed up and my avg antivirus task bar icon goes black be=
cause of the wrong dates

Try changing the CMOS (MB) battery.

>(3) i tried changing the cmos battery twice but still same problem.

Clean the battery and socket contacts, and see it you can get on some of
the "correct" conections around the battery on the MB to see if the power
from the battery is getting to the MB... I would ONLY do this with the PC
off and unplugged. Observe proper anti-static precautions.
