If you can unplug your computer, come back the next day,
and the computer still knows the date and time, then you
probably have a cmos battery.

Most batteries today look like a shiny piece of metal about
the size of two nickels stuck together. They are held on the
mb by a spring-metal clip. You have to carefully dislodge the
the old battery and insert a new one.

On an old computer, the battery may be different. If you
would tell what kind of mb you have, maybe someone on
the list could help you locate it. (In general, you should
always describe your system when seeking help here.)
You could also do a Google search.

Subject: [PCBUILD] cmos battery or flashing?

Hi all,
I'm trying to re-install windows 95 on an old computer but to no avail.
I had to reformat the hard drive because it had partially win98 on it.
Tried using the f-disk command and the bootdisk but nothing seems to be
working now.
I can't get past the press F1 to resume.
It keeps saying cmos battery is low? How do you fix this problem then?
I looked but could not find a cmos battery; what if this computer hasn't got
a cmos battery?????? Is the only option than the Flashing of the hard
drive??
Some feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance
Martha Shade
