Hello all,

        My local cable (TV) provider is just beginning to set installation
appointments for their cable (Internet) access.  Now my search is on for
"the perfect" cable modem...help!

        Do I go internal (have slots available) or external (not much in the way of
desktop space available)?  What other features should I look for and/or
avoid?  What BRANDS should I look for and/or avoid?  Anything else I should
be concerned about or otherwise lookout for?

        I'm running a Compaq Presario w/450Mhz AMD processor, 64M RAM,
Win98/MSIE5.5.

        (It's been working just fine for about 6 months and I'd like to see that
continue, please....)

        Thanks for the suggestions (except for the ones about trashing the
Compaq...lol).
