My school purchased some HP Pavilion celeron computers (against my
recommendation). The warranty on all of them has expired and now, one by
one, they are quitting. By that, I mean they come up with the "no operating
system found" when trying to boot. Did all the fdisk/format routine, but
the bios will not recognize the drives. Put them in my own computer and
same thing. Fdisk will not work (message says there are no fixed disks). I
put my own hard drive into each of the computers and they worked fine.

I noticed that these computers have no power supply fan nor any other
cooling, except for the cpu. I'm thinking the hard drives are overheating
(classroom is warm too). I've never seen a computer power supply without a
fan. Does anyone think it would be a good idea to replace the hard drives,
along with a cooling fan installed?

Has anyone seen this problem with HPs?
