I haven't seen a reply to this, so here's your answer, Bud.
Go to Start|Settings|Control Panel and select the Network
icon.When it comes up, there will be a drop down list that will
probably say Microsoft Family Logon. That's the default when (re)
installing 98SE. Choose "Windows Logon" from the list, hit okay and
the next time you boot your machine everything should be ducky. If
by some chance you are asked for a password again, just put the
cursor in the password line and hit the enter buutton and that will
make it go away.
