I have a classroom with a few Compaq 6000s with XP Home Edition. I also have
a few HPs with Win 98. They all can see and interact with each other until
over 5 users try to access a Compaq with XP. Sometimes I get a "no
permissions" message, other times I get "too many users." I checked this
out by having one computer shut down. The computer that couldn't get on
could then access the XP machine. And the one that I had shut down could no
longer access the XP. Does anyone know if there is a setting in XP to up the
number of connections? I couldn't find anything. I recall seeing in Win98
but have never had a problem with them.

My network is TCP/IP. The address ranges are 192.168.1.1 to 192.168.1.31
with a subnet mask of 255.255.255.0

They are all connected through a hub (10base).
