Yes, generic cartridges (the ones I've seen anyways) aren't up to the
quality of the original.  I've seen a lot of printers get "gummed up" using
these.
You might be able to get away with it with a Canon or Lexmark printer,
since every time you replace the cartridge, you get a new head, but Epsons
have permanent print heads, and I wouldn't recommend taking a chance.
