I'm only guessing, as I don't remember much of W98 now, but scanreg might 
be in the System or System32 folder.

When you get to the line *C:\Windows> displayed,---- type "cd system", then 
"enter" and see if that folder comes up. If not, try system32. If you get 
either (try both) then type scanreg and enter.

I don't think scanreg will help if McAfee is trying to run, but worth 
trying anyway. The problem is prolly not in the registry, but in the fact 
that Windows is trying to load a corrupted or missing McAfee file.
