Susan, I wouldn't be so quick to draw the conclusion that you need more
memory, you'll likely upgrade and still have low resources. First check for
poor drivers, rename config.sys and autoexec.bat, upgrade the video driver,
and scan for a virus.

I have 48MB of Ram.  That is probably the first thing I may need to upgrade.
What do you suggest?  Should I move all the way up to 128?
