Mine has the same Fn/Brt control, but it's just not bright enough. Maybe it's tired. I've looked at automotive (DVD) type LCDs, but they're small and I don't want the screen in a headrest or visor. I'm thinking of trying an ordinary 15" desktop LCD. The one I use on my desktop runs on 12V from a transformer. I should be able to power that from the car's 12V system. I'll try it right at my desk to see if it's compatible with the laptop. Maybe I'll be able to find one that's extra bright.
