I agree with Jim.  One more thing you can try if that doesn't work is to put
the PCI card back in and get into your BIOS on bootup.  Check if it has a
setting for Video Boot, or something like that.  You can set it to either
PCI or AGP.  Set it to AGP, save it, let the machine boot, make sure the
drivers are set to Standard VGA Device, and shut down.  Now install the AGP
card and see if it works.
