It matters what you have in your bios for where it will boot from. if it is set to boot from the normal place there is nothing there. try turning on your computer then hit the delete button to access your bios. You want to disable all the boot locations except for the cd rom that way it will boot up.(this will be located in the advanced settings in your bios) I can not tell you the list I do not know your bios, When you turn on your computer and after hitting the delete button email me and I will walk you through it.

  Subject: [PCBUILD] dead? computer

I recently got a new computer and decided to format my old one to start
fresh for my kids. I put the XP Pro disk in and everything went along just
fine. It formatted the hard drive and began the installation. When it got
to "finalizing the installation" part, the computer shut down and restarted
with nothing but a blank screen. When you turn it off and turn it back on,
it looks like it is going to start normally, then-blank screen. I tried
reinstalling and it did the same thing. Is this a hard drive or motherboard
  problem or maybe something else?
  Thanks...
