Hi there

I'm trying to install a new 20Gb HDD in a PC I'm building for my son. The O/S is Windows XP Professional and I'm booting right from scratch using the CD-Rom.

The HDD formats (NTFS) and then copies the initial files no problem but when it comes to do its first re-boot, after the first "splash screen", I get the dreaded blue screen with the message at the the top "Unmountable_Boot_Volume". The Recovery program says that Windows has been installed, but it just won't boot.

I've tried re-installing again, even using FAT32 and I still have the same problem, although I am using the same install cd each time. Would it be better to fomat and fdisk the HDD first using some other method?

I may have done something when I've been playing around with it but is there a way to get round this or is the disc "caputt"

Thanks for any help.

Pete..........
