I have had this exact problem on one particular MB( a cyrix GX). I had
Win98 installed and upgraded to IE 5.0. Uninstalled IE 5.0 and it started
working normally. I tried a clean install of Win98 SE (contains IE 5.0)at a
later date, with the same lockups resulting. Recently I did a clean install
of Win ME (IE 5.5) and finally had the problem resolved. If possible try
either downgrading to Windows98 or upgrading to ME.

if I
try and access anything in the window - it hangs. I have to get rid of it
using Task Manager, (Ctrl-Alt-Del). This impacts on everything as it causes
