Here's a new one to me. I have a friend with an IBM Aptiva with the
Rapid Resume feature. He had an application that was frozen so he hit
Ctrl-Alt-Del and chose Shut Down. The computer went to the shutdown
screen and locked up tight. So he powered down, waited a few minutes and
turned it back on. After a few seconds it rapid resumes right back to
the shut down screen and he can't do anything else. I told him to hit
the reset and then F8 so he can choose Safe Mode from the boot screen
but it still goes to the shutdown screen. Hitting F1 won't take him to
CMOS setup either.

I'm not very familiar with IBM machines. Is there a special startup file
that Rapid Resume creates that needs to be edited or deleted? Or does it
modify the msdos.sys file? The registry?

Any help is appreciated.
