Hi,

I was just wondering what the point is of having so much RAM? My friend
just installed another 64 MB 100Mhz SDRAM in his PII 400. He is running
Windows '95. This brings the total to 192MB. All he does is play games and
use the internet. To the practical user, what difference, if any, would one
see in performance? Who would need it? I think he just did it because he
works on the theory "more is better". He has a 12GB Hard Drive. For a
practical user this is a lot of space. Where would one see the increased
performance by boosting the SDRAM? I think that his computer was running
fine with 128MB SDRAM. Are we going to see software in the near future that
will require so much RAM? I was just arguing with him and telling him that
he doesn't need the extra 64MB SDRAM. His defense is that he is looking
toward the future. I told him that he would have gotten his next computer
before he needed that much RAM. Well, anyway, my main question is:
IS WHAT HE DID WISE?

TIA,
Michi
