Hi Alan,

If the printer driver is really only supported on W2K or XP, then you would
have to upgrade the OS to use it. You cannot simply install some stuff from
a W2K or XP CD to make the printer work.

In addition, if you do want to take the leap of upgrading the OS, then you
will need an upgrade CD, if it is an OEM or full install CD, it will not
upgrade the existing 98se, it can only be installed from scratch, which
would not import any settings or retain any installed programs. I would also
recommend going to XP rather than W2K, as W2K is going on 6 years old.

But first, I would check the Canon web site, they may have drivers for
Win98. What model printer is it? For example, I have a not too old i850, and
there are Win98 drivers on their web site.

I have a friend with 98se that will not take her Canon printer. It needs
2K or XP.
Can I insert the Win2K CD and sucessfuly install the program? Will it
overwrite the old OS ? Thanks for your help, AL SMITH
