When booting or shutting down my Compaq Presario 7180 the picture on my
monitor (Compaq Presario 14SV) goes "bad". During Windows 98 the picture is
fine at 800 x 600 with 256 colors. I am unable to access Setup during the
boot process since everything is illegible. This Compaq model has a display
adapter. I think it is an S3 Trio, Inc. PCI Plug and Play or something like
that.

If I need to, I can access Setup by hooking up to my old Packard Bell
monitor. For some reason it will work during boot up and shutdown, but only
at 640 x 480 with 256 colors.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Gary
