HI,

Yes you can, usually, use a USB 2.0 drive on the USB 1.1 port but all
you will get is USB 1.1 speed. About a 4x writer. For around $30 you
can find a USB 2.0 PCMCIA card that you could put into the machine and
then get the full USB 2.0 speed out of the device.

USB hubs are fine to use. If at all get an external powered one for
larger powered items and a smaller passive one for traveling. Again
get one that is USB2.0 compliant if you don't want to slow the speed
down to a USB 2.0 device. (assuming you use the above PCMCIA usb2.0
recommend card)

Thanks and have a Great Day!

Joe Lore

Hello All, I have a Dell Latitude CPxJ Pentium III 500 mhz running
Windows XP Pro., It has one USB port version 1.1

Can I use a Laptop accessory, such as a CD-Writer with USB 2.0
interface ?
Second question : Is it ok to use a USB hub for more USB connections?
