Subject: Re: PCBUILD Digest - 30 Aug 2000 to 31 Aug 2000 (#2000-245)

On a Tomato (Zida) MOBO when I attempted to use the BIOS options to
Overclock, I could not even get a POST. So since you say that it is easy
to overclock am I missing something here ?

I was really comparing the Celeron to the Duron, so was referring to the
FC-PGA celerons. The older celerons (PPGA and slot-1s) are as Drew stated,
and I assume you have the PPGA 533 (there is also a 533A FC-PGA type).
Although I did not mean to imply that the 810 would be a good OC board(just
make for a cheap system), I have OCed the PPGA 533 to 600 with negligible
increase in temp., in a Soyo 810 board (75fsb) with stock fan/Hsink. No
great gain, but this chip is not far from its max to start with.

It's another story with the FC-PGA chips, although your board may not
support them (some 810 boards do). From what I have read at various OC
sites, the OEM 533a and 566a will run pretty easily @ 100Mhz fsb, although
you may need better than stock cooling, and possibly core voltage
adjustment. Check Anand's site(www.anandtech.com), and www.overclockers.com
, for OC info on these newer celeron IIs. The latter site has an archive
of results individuals have had with different chips and setups (although
the 810 boards aren't usually considered OC boards). E Sloan
