More likely, all three machines claim to be set to get the addresses of
DNS servers to use by way of DHCP. It could be interesting to fire up the
"Command Prompt" and run "ipconfig /all" to see what server addresses
they're actually using for DNS.... Maybe the one with the problem is
getting set differently somehow.

The way the network was originally set up was like this: dsl modem -->
router -->comp1, comp2, comp3, comp4. The router was set to use the subnet mask
with ip's 192.168.0.1 thru 192.168.0.6. The XP comp IP is .2 and the
non-internet connecting comp is 192.168.0.4. The non-internet connecting comp is
seen and shares files over the network. It just won't connect to internet via
IE but I can ping yahoo.com.

Now if I can ping yahoo I assume that computer is getting out to the
internet so there won't be any probs with the router, right? I did command prompt
ipconfig /all but lost most of the info at top of screen. I did an ipconfig
and it came up with:

0 Ethernet Adapter
    IP Address..................:0.0.0.0
    Subnet Mask...............:0.0.0.0
    Default Gateway...........:

1 Ethernet Adapter
    IP Address.................: 0.0.0.0
    Subnet Mask..............: 0.0.0.0
    Default Gateway..........: 0.0.0.0

2 Ethernet Adapter
    IP Address...................: 192.168.0.4
    Subnet Mask................: 255.255.255.0
    Default Gateway............: 192.168.0.1

Keep in mind there is only one NIC in the computer. However when I do the
ipconfig on the XP comp here is what I get:
Ethernet adapter Local Area Connection:
    Connection-specific DNS Suffix......: blank
    IP Address...................................: 192.168.0.2
    Subnet Mask................................: 255.255.255.0
    Default Gateway............................: 192.168.0.1

Ethernet adapter Network Bridge:
    Connection-specific DNS Suffix......: blank
    Autoconfiguration IP Address.........: 169.254.91.29
    Subnet Mask................................: 255.255.0.0
    Default Gateway............................: blank

PPP adapter {bunch of numbers}:
    Connection-specific DNS Suffix........: blank
    IP Address......................................: 172.153.22.174
    Subnet Mask...................................: 255.255.255.255
    Default Gateway...............................: blank

Back to the ability to ping. If I can ping to the internet then I must have
internet access on the comp with IP .4. So now I'm thinking something is
amiss in internet explorer and aol. As I can't access internet with IE, AOL or
any IM programs.

Any ideas?
