Hi,

From my experience, stay with the celeron PPGC chip (black & silver) if you
want to use just
a heatsink. The AMD's as you say run Very hot and are very fragile. they
really need
a good size fan blowing on the heatsink

The Socket 370 PPGA chips, like the older AMD K6-2 cpus (socket7 max speed
550 at 100 mhz bus) have the metal cover that helps disapate the heat and
with a
large heatsink should work okay.

The Celerons ran has high as 533 (66mhz bus) before they changed to the
FCPGA (green wafer with black blob in center) packaging which do not use
the metal plate. The new style celerons switched to 100mhz bus with the
800mhz + Celeron CPU.

One of the ways to keep the system cooler is to stay with the 66 bus speed.
The higher the bus speed the more heat all the components will generate.

GOD BLESS AMERICA!
