Brian, first go to the desired drive and create a new folder called
"temp" and then add the following two lines to your autoexec.bat file;

set TMP=D:\temp
set TEMP=D:\temp

Change the D to another drive letter as necessary.
You can quickly edit autoexec.bat using msconfig, (Start, Run,
type "msconfig" without the quotes, OK).
Restart and it should work - (some programs are hard-coded to use
c:\windows\temp and can't be easily changed).
