If the video and sound share the same IRQ,it would make sense that you'd see that problem while trying to watch a DVD, which requires your video and sound cards.  If all your IRQs are used up you'll have to disable or remove something.  If not, there are ways to force one of the cards, most likely the sound card to take a different unused IRQ.  Someone on the list will tell you how to do it, or you can save time by doing a www.google search for the information.
