A will give you a brief definition of what a Batch file is. It is a DOS
file that contains DOS commands so they don't have to be entered at the
keyboard. They end with the extension .BAT. The AUTOEXEC.BAT is one
example of this file. I use files like this to simplify tasks for users
such as backing up or restoring files that they need.

See above, if you would like more information e-mail me.

Being that I have not experienced them, I can't help you as they aren't
specific enough for me to determine what is wrong. One possibility is
that the batch file is not in the AUTOEXEC.BAT with the full path name
and the location of the file is not in the PATH statement. (Just
shooting in the dark)

In general I don't/wouldn't buy Compaq as they are highly proprietary.
I did buy one for my son, to keep him off mine, and my company buys the
Deskpro series. Compaqs are good, like most non-built systems, if you
don't plan on changing too much of your original configuration. If you
are looking to upgrade your system with things like the CPU and
additional card and peripherals at a later date you might look into a
built system with brand name components. In general I have found the
Compaqs to be reliable, but not completely compatible with all major
software.

Just my opinions,
