You need to tell us the operating system you are using.

If you are are using Dos/WIn1.xx-3.xx, then you have a problem
with the card, if the driver cannot initilize the card.   If maybe a
conflict with a IRQ or DMA setting, so check these.

If you are using Win95, (and I hope you are not on this computer),
then you will have to install the drivers in the config.sys inorder to
properly use the card.  Although Win95 has drivers for the SB Pro
card, they generally do not work.

Now...  about your CD rom drive.   If you have either the SB Pro
(CT-1330) card or the SB Pro2 (CT-1600) card, they do not support
the IDE specification.   The 40 pin connector on the card is a
Panasonic/MKE connector.   This is a propritory connector and
will not work with IDE.

I believe the earliest SB card that supported IDE drives was the
Soundblaster 16 value IDE (CT-2291) card.   Any card with a smaller
number on the card should not support IDE.
