It is my understanding that once the PIII line leaves slot 1 architecture
(600 is the last of the slot ones, albeit in many forms), that it will be
repackaged in 2 forms:

1> A new package that has not been publicized very much that moves the
contacts from the edge of the silicon to the INSIDE of the chip. I still
have not been able to find a diagram of this, but the only way I can see it
they are simply "changing sexes" with the cpu and the MB connector...

2> The slot 370 variant, which I have read is more along the lines of "slot
410." I'm not sure about interchangeability, but I am sure that there will
be adapters such as the slot 1 => Slot 370 adapter...

Hi,

I have recently build myself a dual-celeron system using the BP6
motherboard. There is news flooting around that Intel will release
future editions of Pentium III in a FC-PGA 370 socket.
Is there an upgrade path for the motherboard? Is the PGA 370
pin-compatible with FC_PGA 370? Can the Pentium III be plug into the
BP6? |:>
