Hi William,
   I had the same problem with a Giga-byte motherboard and it also drove me to the brink.
I found out there was a lock on the AGP bridge and the card wasn't going all the way in.
I would pull the graphic card and re-insert it. If it has a lock on the bridge you have to pressure it to the side when in inserting the card. After I had the card all the way down, the new pc worked fine.
