Randy J. Anderson is here to the rescue!!!

With Soyo SY-K7VTA motherboards, the lock up crashing problem is a known problem. Soyo (www.soyo.com.tw) knows about this problem already.
Back in June, 2001 and July, 2001, with my Soyo SY-K7VTA-B motherboard,
I had the exact same type of problem, except it was noticed with
Windows 98 SE.

Symptoms:
Even when Windows 98 SE was idle, the Windows 98 SE mouse pointer within approximately 45 minutes would suddenly freeze and Windows 98 SE stops responding to keyboard input. a time a little before I saw all of what has occuring, I would come back in approximately a half hour later to see the PC in stand-by or with blanked monitor fail to respond. Those were my symptoms.

The above symptoms were occuring in a majorly similar configuration, but with
Soyo SY-K7VTA-B (Soyo SY-K7VTA with Via KT133, *not* KT133A) and
an Athlon T-Bird 900 mhz.

Your lock up crashing problem is caused by your Athlon T-Bird processor
getting too much processor voltage (Vcore). The solution:

1. Enter the BIOS setup.

2. Go to "SOYO COMBO FEATURE" or "SOYO COMBO SETUP"

3. Change the CPU VCore Select value to: -0.025V

4. Save the changes to the CMOS.
