David, Xcopy sure will copy hidden files.  At the C: prompt type Xcopy /?
and it will list all of the commands and options you can use.

To copy an entire hard drive to a new drive I recently used the
following:  xcopy /r/i/c/h/k/e/y and it worked perfectly.
