Can't really imagine that a virus would make your harddrive slam its r/w
armature back and forth. If a virus made the armature slam back and forth, I
doubt that the harddrive would even work because it could no longer access
the correct disk area to retrieve information. I've always had good luck
with Maxtor drives but they always seemed kind of loud to me anyway. Have
you done a virus scan to see if there is in fact a virus on the drive?
