Did the folks at Radio Shack do a "shake test" to make sure that the cable
wasn't shorting intermittently (clip on the meter leads and shake the
cable)? If the cable is good, and the power supply is good, that only leaves
your laptop itself.  I'm thinking that you may need to check and/or replace
the power receptacle on the laptop.
