1. Have you tried to install your updates using another monitor? 2. Did you
try to update in safe mode? 3.Did you delete the paritition and start
completely fresh? Are you installing from a disk or internet?; Is your
monitor resolution too high/low for your computer?
Start with the simple and  work up in difficulty? Change resolution, Change
monitor, Clean disk, safe mode, remove memory chip (one at a time),
repartition and format hard drive.
