Rob,
The output of a video card will not support two parallel connections (Y connector).
The Matrox G450 dual head AGP card will and can be had for about $40.00. I have run monitors 18-20 feet from computer, but this is not a guarantee. I'll leave the network to the wiser than I.

Subject: [PCBUILD] Adding a second monitor

  Hello Everyone,
I would like to add a second monitor to a system. It needs to display
the same thing as the primary monitor. Don't really have to have a computer
with it at the second location. This second location will have no need to
  interact with the computer.
Question is, is there a "Y" available to accomplish this and if so how
far can I run a second video feed. Need to be approx 20-25 ft. Is this
possible to do with a software solution over a LAN?
Computers are running Win 2000pro. Any direction either hardware or
  software solutions would be appreciated.

  TIA

  Rob Shane
