  There are two basic possibilities:

1.  Parameters for this drive in the CMOS configuration may not be
correct....

2.  The drive has sustained physical damage to the area where
critical partition/boot information must be stored; repair cost is
likely to exceed replacement cost.

  Naturally, one hopes that #1 is the problem.
