I am resurrecting an old no-name computer (1.2 GHz Duron CPU, 384 MB
RAM) running Windows XP Pro. Everything seems to work ok, but the CD
drive. It won't read a CD. The drive shows up under Device Manager with
an error mark, but doesn't show up in My Computer. It is unable to find
an updated driver on the internet.
I have tried three different CD Drives, 2- Liteon, 1 other brand. I
moved the drive to the primary IDE bus, no improvement. I have
uninstalled the drive and reinstalled it, same problem.
Windows is up to date. Any ideas?
