    I'm somewhat hampered here by only having built SATA Raid systems, but I
imagine the solution is the same.  When booting to the XP disk, it will
pause and ask you to press F2 if you need to load any third party drivers.
Put your SATA drivers onto a floppy (copy from your MB install CD).  You'll
be prompted for it.
    SATA didn't exist when XP was released so there is no built in support.
You go through the same process when using RAID (either IDE or SATA) or an
add on controller.
