  I believe the main feature of type III is their double thickness -- useful
for moounting things like small hard drives.  The card actually plugs into a
type II connector, but is so thick that it takes up the adjoining type II
slot as well.
  I think the only reason you see any type III NICs is so that they can put
the RJ-45 connector flush with the cas instead of using a dngle or X-jack
connector.
