I need some education.  My son tried to load an old DOS mode game on my
Windows 98 machine and it didn't work.  However it left behind a legacy of
the attempt.  It has changed the DOS video "mode" (I assume) of the video
card.  Now when the computer initially boots, the BIOS logo and text is at
such a large "font" that it goes completely off both sides of the
monitor.  I don't want to adjust the monitor for boot-up because I have to
go back and re-adjust it when I get into windows.  I remember back in DOS
days having to use some commands to set the video "mode" to set the display
to a normal 80 x 24 text screen (or to other color or EGA modes).  How is
this done under Windows 9x?

Related to that do the video cards set a default scan rate before getting
into Windows graphical mode or do they "remember" the setting last set in
Windows?
