Hi,

Personally I would not go with the Samsung drive.  Just bad experiences
with the brand.
WD, Maxtor, and Seagate have gone to a 1yr warranty recently on their
drives too save money.

I understand that the WD with the 8M cache buffer, will still offer the 3yr
warranty.  I would have your friend insist on a WD with the 8m cache.  It
is only about $10.00 more than the 2M cache version at the wholesale level.
