 Thanks, but I think that I have not been able to convey correctly in my post. since i could not figure out how to attach a pic of my mobo to the list "compose msg." page, I am giving below a link which shows the pic.

if you kindly look at the area surrounding the cpu you will see a black sort of oblong surrounding the cpu and four white RIVET sort of things at the four corners. these are actually plastic rivets with white heads and fit into four corresponding holes in the mobo. the heatsink/fan(intel) sits inside this oblong.
what i meant to convey was that two of these rivets had come out from their holes in the width of the oblong and one could sort of lift this portion to a slant since the other portion was rivetted firmly. i just pressed these rivets carefully into place and made the whole thing firm. the noise of course continued and the system refused to boot. but that is another story.
