I have had luck with "Logitech Deluxe 104".
I get them used from a guy that liquidates large corps,
so I know they hold up well... I had the same "problem"
as your wife, and I also (at that time) bought the "cheap" ones...

If oyu want to spend the money get a "real" industrial keyboard.
The kinds a Bank would use, (if they were smart...)
