If the BIOS doesn't recognize the card, it must be a weird situation...
However, here are two things I thought of:

1) Try using any PCI card that requires installation in the slots in
question. Maybe the slot or the PCI bridge are not good. If you can get
hold of another SBLIVE card try it too.

2) One of my cards required a large force to insert correctly into the
slot... First time I hadn't done it correctly and the card _jumped_ out
of the MB while the PC was working (!) Check if this is an issue - all
pins must be inserted and the card top roughly parallel to the board
surface.
